The 9th Annual Napa Valley Film Festival (NVFF) lights up Napa, Yountville, St. Helena, and Calistoga during the most colorful time of the year, November 13 – 17.
Napa Valley Film Festival showcases an outstanding presentation of independent filmmaking, while also building a strong sense of community around the art of visual storytelling.
NVFF has established itself as the ultimate celebration of film, food and wine, and as one of the most entertaining, inspiring and memorable experiences for locals and cultural travelers alike.
Over the course of five days and nights, at venues throughout the gorgeous Napa Valley, festival attendees watched the best new independent films; met the filmmakers at Q&As after every film; sampled wines from boutique wineries all at the same time; attend culinary demonstrations featuring chef and filmmaker collaborations; attended celebrity tributes to talented actors and directors; discovering new music at evening parties and receptions; and enjoyed the food, wine and lifestyle of this world-class destination.
With this being my second year, to my surprise I had the opportunity to attend a screening prior to the Festival Gala of, I Want My MTV. The film provided a never-before-seen glimpse into how MTV started and flourished into a controversial cultural media platform it is today. Featured commentary showcased interviews with Sting, Billy Idol, The Eurythmics and Pat Benatar. I was blessed enough to meet the film’s Director, Patrick Waldrop and Tyler Measom.
Following the screening the evening continued with the 9th Annual Festival Gala, among the crowd was MTV VJ Alan Hunter, Actor William Fichtner and Heart’s Nancy Wilson.
The film festival association encouraged 80’s fashion due to the MTV film documentary, however I stayed authentic to the 50’s by selecting a rhinestone strap gown. I added a few glamourous accessories starting with a set of vintage rhinestone earrings and matching bracelet paired with a patent clutch, pumps and faux fur stole.
