Complex, inquisitive, focused, determined, hypnotic, and self-contained are a few key words that could describe who I am under the ๐๐๐ถ๐๐๐๐. Have you ever wondered what the untold story of someoneโs life is, the story that is under the exterior they present to the world? Sometimes we will never know oneโs inner wounds or past traumas as we only see what they desire us to view.
During a two-part photo session with JLee Photo Studio, I initially opted to do part-one of the shoot with a collection of glamorous dresses c/o Resime Couture. After the shoot Jason (a close friend) expressed to me he felt this facade isnโt really me and when I come back to the studio next time he wanted me to bring the real Doris that is deep inside. So after a few weeks I thought long and hard of who I really am and in todayโs images that is me behind the glamour.
In the shoot I worn an aged black ribbed tank top from Express, with several rips and tears throughout. Like many of us, this torn tank top is a reflection of the self-journey I have been on, despite its shattered condition at the end of the day it is stillย intact and strong. The second element of the photo-shoot is strength as I was raised by two of the strongest men, my father and grandfather. With the overall image of masculinity with subtle touches of femininity from five inch heels and retro pin curls. The final piece comes from my grandfather, a fisherman hat which I had previously posted, here.
Many might not be aware that I was raised by men, with strong dominate personas that always strived for me to be independent, so you can only imagine me at the age of 18 rebuilding my first truck with my father from the engine, interior to full suspension. Not to mention my grandfather whom taught me at the early age of eight the art of being an entrepreneur. The blending of these two men have provided me the strength and determination to be fearless and relentless to never giving up despite the challenge at hand.ย ย
