Finding Balance through the Awakening

Over the past year, I’ve learned plenty regarding finding balance in life. It turns out having a spiritual awakening and pushing through a various number of obstacles on your path of personal growth can certainly benefit you.

On this week’s episode of Dose of Doris I talk about balance and how you can find inner serenity with four self-care tips that can be incorporated throughout your day.

#1 Breathing

Have you ever focused on your breathing throughout you day? Well if you haven’t you are missing a key indicator of your mood & stress levels. If you notice yourself holding your breath, breathing irregularly or sighing often, then consciously take 10 deep breaths, counting backwards with each inhalation and exhalation. Label each breath by saying to yourself, “Ten in, 10 out. Nine in, nine out until you reach one”. If you are able to do this laying down that would be ideal however, if not, sitting up would work as well. What this does is get you back on track and helps you center yourself as breathing has a HUGE role on mood & balance.

#2 Practice Gratitude

Unfortunately, many of us forget that in every stressful unbalanced situation there is something happening in our favor – as I always say everything is happening for you, not to you. I also would like to mention you can’t fake gratitude it has to come from a place of true intentions from the soul. That is why (what I like to call) the 10 x 10 rule can help you balance out your thoughts and rebalance your mindset. I promise you gratitude will change your life in ways you can’t explain it – it changed my life forever and is the sole reason I am where I am today.

#3 Change Your POV

It’s truly amazing if you just stop for a second and change your mindset and go into a state of gratitude how you can balance yourself out rather quickly. A perfect example is let’s say someone cuts you off and nearly hits you on the highway instead of having road rage to give them the bird – say to yourself “Thank God no one was hurt, my car is not damages, I am still on time and so on” Then of course you balance out your breathing and keep moving forward. Its how you precise something that can throw you off balance.

God, grant me the Serenity To accept the things I cannot change…Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the difference.

#4 Surrender yourself

I can remember when I surrendered back in December 2020 it was such a soul deepening moment for me. Despite it taking me many months to get to this very place it has rewards you could never believe. For those that aren’t familiar with the action of surrendering it’s the act of letting go of attachment of how you think something should come out. When you do this, you open the outcome to something so much bigger than you could ever imagined. A helpful tip I often share with others is, just let life lead you and you will always find inner strength and beauty wherever you are lead to go. Life is suppose to be a mystery, a grand adventure.

The steps above are many that will help you get clear about what a balanced mindset should be and once you have a clear vision of what that is, everything will begin to fall into place.
